Simple Trivia
Privacy Policy
This privacy policy applies to the Simple Trivia app for mobile devices (the "Application"), made by Wayyy Out! Games (the "Service Provider"). It explains what information the Application collects, how it is used and shared, and the choices you have.
Your account
When you first set up the Application, it creates a guest account for you automatically, without asking for your name or email address. This account is identified by a random ID and lets the Application save your progress and place you on leaderboards.
You can choose to link your account to Google, so you keep your progress if you change or lose your device. If you do, Google shares your email address, name and profile photo with the Application's sign-in service (Firebase Authentication). The Application does not use your Google name or photo: they are never stored in your profile or shown to other players.
Your username and avatar
The Application gives you a randomly generated username, such as "CleverOtter482", so your real name is never shown. You can swap it for another generated name, but you cannot type your own. You also get a cartoon avatar, which you can change in the Application.
Information the Application stores
To run the game, the Application stores the following on the Service Provider's servers, linked to your account:
- Your username, avatar and any avatar looks you save
- Your settings, such as sounds, vibration, colour theme and font
- Your progress, including your points overall and in each category, experience points and level, play streak, streak freezes and badges
- Your daily challenge and weekly leaderboard results
- Games you are playing, including the questions you were asked and your answers and timings, so your score can be worked out fairly on the server
- Whether your account is a guest account, and which in-app messages you have already seen
- A notification token for each device where you allow notifications (see "Notifications" below)
Information other players can see
- Your username, avatar and scores appear on the leaderboards, including the daily and weekly ones
- In live games and duels, the other players see your username, avatar, scores and whether you answered each question correctly
- In live games, the other players see any chat messages you send. Chat is checked for offensive words before it is sent, but you should never share personal information in chat
Notifications
If you allow notifications, the Application uses Firebase Cloud Messaging to send you messages about the game, such as when it is your turn in a duel or when your play streak is about to end. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.
Analytics and crash reports
The Application uses the following services from Google to understand how it is used and to fix problems:
- Google Analytics for Firebase records how the Application is used, such as the games and modes played, lifelines and features used, badges earned and results shared, along with device and app information. It is linked to your account's random ID, not your name or email address. Google may estimate your approximate location (such as your country) from your IP address.
- Firebase Crashlytics collects information when the Application crashes or hits an error, such as your device model, operating system version, app version and details of the error.
The Service Provider uses this information only to improve the Application. It is not used for advertising.
Other services
- Questions are fetched by the Service Provider's servers from The Trivia API. None of your information is sent to it.
- Firebase App Check and Google Play Integrity help confirm that requests come from a genuine copy of the Application, to prevent cheating and abuse.
- Firebase Remote Config lets the Service Provider adjust some game settings, such as question timers, without an update.
- If you share a result or a game code, the Application hands the text to your device's share menu. Nothing is shared unless you choose to.
Apart from The Trivia API, the services above are provided by Google. You can read how Google handles information in the Google Privacy Policy and Firebase's privacy information.
How long information is kept
Your account information is kept for as long as you have an account. Solo games are deleted automatically a day after they start. Live games, including their chat, are deleted automatically about a week after they were last played, and duels about two weeks after. Analytics and crash information is kept by Google for a limited period, after which it is deleted.
Deleting your account
You can delete your Simple Trivia account and its data yourself, at any time, in the Application:
- Open Simple Trivia and tap your avatar at the top of the Home screen (or go to Settings and tap your profile)
- Scroll down and tap Delete account
- Tap Delete to confirm
Your account and data are deleted straight away. This cannot be undone. Signing out of a guest account also deletes it, because a guest account cannot be signed back into; the Application warns you before this happens.
If you cannot open the Application, email support@wayyyoutgames.com from any address with the subject "Delete my Simple Trivia account" and your username (shown on your profile). Your account will be deleted within 30 days and you will get a reply when it is done.
Deleting your account permanently removes:
- Your account and its sign-in, including any link to Google
- Your profile: username, avatar, saved looks and settings
- Your progress: points, experience and level, play streak, streak freezes and badges
- Your entries on every leaderboard, including past daily and weekly ones
- Your games in progress and any duels you are in
- Your notification tokens
Some information is kept for a limited time:
- Live games you were in carry on without you. Chat messages you sent in them stay visible to the other players until the game is deleted, about a week after it was last played.
- Analytics and crash reports, which are linked only to a random ID, are kept by Google for up to 14 months for analytics and 90 days for crash reports, then deleted.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or move your personal information, and to object to or restrict how it is used. You can delete your account in the Application at any time, and you can contact the Service Provider to exercise any of these rights. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to delete it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. The Service Provider does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Children
The Application is not directed at children under 13, and the Service Provider does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the Application, please contact the Service Provider and the account will be deleted.
Security
The Service Provider uses reasonable measures to protect your information, such as access rules that stop players from reading or changing each other's private data and keeping answers on the server so they cannot be read in advance. No method of storing or sending information is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
Changes
The Service Provider may update this Privacy Policy, for example when the Application gains new features. Updates will be posted on this page with a new effective date, and significant changes will be highlighted in the Application or its store listing.
This privacy policy is effective as of 2026-11-01
